ANALISIS REPRESENTASI GENDER ANTARA SENIMAN PEREMPUAN DAN LAKI-LAKI DALAM KARYA SENI NFT INDONESIA

Abstract

This research seeks to review the works of Indonesian NFT artists in representing gender expressions in their works of art to identify how gender is represented, understood and conveyed in the latest visual culture, namely NFT art. This research reviews the critical question of whether there are still differences in perspectives in representing gender in today’s world. This research is also aimed at identifying how masculinity dominates in the nft art ecosystem. The method in this research involves representation analysis based on Stuart Hall’s theory. The approach process for analyzing NFT works and the development of the gender concept behind them is traced using a diachronic historical approach to examine the development of NFT art in Indonesia from 2017 to the present. The main finding in this research is that the development of understanding about gender, identity and equality has developed positively. Male and female artists do not use representations of women as domestic objects but also as main figures in life who are full of thought, enthusiasm and strength like the male figures they create.
